rbidr launches Spasmatron - allows retailers to 'self install' displays and sell time
rbidr is pleased to announce the launch of its first digital display product: Spasmatron.
Spasmatron is a proof of concept of the underlying rbidr platform, but is also much more. It is a stand-alone business that offers retailers, both large and small, the opportunity to enhance the shopping experience with rich digital media while also earning advertising revenues. It is a win-win for retailers as any unsold time is primarily theirs to use to communicate directly with customers!
Spasmatron's model is simple: we are the enablers of this technology and the platform providers. We take a cut of the revenues earned on the displays, and in some cases merely license our technology, but it is not our aim to interfere with the local stores' relationships with their customers. Ours is not a 'one size fits all' approach to digital display networks, but rather a very local and customized one - giving store owners unprecedented control.
Further, Spasmatron's focus is to provide media that is not just geared towards as many eyeballs as possible, and not even to the 'point of sale'. We are seeking to defy conventional wisdom and the traditional media mindset and provide something truly innovative, and truly impactful. We aim to enable retailers to provide media at the 'point of decision' or 'point of conversion' - which is, in our view, unexplored territory. The point of decision is the moment in time when a customer makes a buying decision. It is when they are standing in front of the shelf or the rack, looking at products - touching them, smelling them, squeezing them.. that is moment of truth. This calls for a entirely new way of thinking about merchandising and digital signage so that it has a real and, ultimately measurable, impact on consumer decisions.
